Friendly’s Ice Cream LLC, the operator of Friendly’s restaurants and a manufacturer of ice cream products distributed in over 8,000 retail outlets, announced the opening of a drive thru in Western Massachusetts, conveniently located at the Friendly’s restaurant at 21 Southampton Road in Westfield, Massachusetts, right off Exit 3 from the Mass Pike.
“We are thrilled to offer our guests a faster, more convenient way to enjoy their favorite Friendly’s food and ice cream products,” says John Maguire, president and CEO of Friendly’s. “Friendly’s looks forward to serving current and new guests a delicious meal coupled with swift service, and we couldn’t think of a better place to bring this new drive-thru concept than to our ’home’ in Western Massachusetts.”
Friendly’s drive-thru in Westfield is an addition to its Southampton Road restaurant, which originally opened in 1986. The drive thru has one window for car service, while the restaurant, which boasts 3,788 square feet of space, offers 140 seats for those who prefer to enjoy a sit-down meal. The drive thru will serve guests classic menu items, both alone or in a combo, such as egg and cheese breakfast SuperMelt sandwiches for a hearty morning meal, Friendly’s Big Beef Burgers, fresh salads, signature SuperMelt sandwiches, and of course, a dessert selection including premium ice cream flavors, sundaes, and the popular Fribble.
The Westfield drive-thru is another testament to the bright future of Friendly’s. The brand is celebrating its 80th year in business, and has improved the overall Friendly’s guest experience through a variety of initiatives, including updating menu items, retraining and recertifying staff members, and refreshing the interior and exterior appearances of its restaurants. In April 2015, Friendly’s opened a successful new quick-service restaurant at Logan International Airport in Terminal A, which was the first Boston-area Friendly’s restaurant to open in 12 years. The opening of the brand’s Westfield drive thru is another key example of how Friendly’s is positioning itself for continued growth in the ever-changing, family-friendly dining industry.
