On July 13, Krispy Kreme will make its Periscope debut live from BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with the announcement of its 78th Birthday Pop Up Experience Contest Winner. As part of the sweet treat retailer’s 78th Birthday celebrations, Krispy Kreme fans throughout the country were invited to share a compelling or unique tweet telling @KrispyKreme why their town should #WinKrispyKreme. During the 6:30 p.m. Periscope broadcast, Krispy Kreme’s hometown fans will help announce and celebrate the winning city with a special unveiling from center field at the ballpark.

The Pop Up Contest’s winning city will receive a Krispy Kreme hosted Pop Up event that includes a 20-foot inflatable Krispy Kreme Pop Up shop, free hot Original Glazed doughnuts, and other fun surprises.

“What better way to gift the winning city this special treat than to have the hometown fans who’ve supported this brand for 78 successful years help us do the honors,” says Dwayne Chambers, chief marketing officer, Krispy Kreme. “The anticipation and excitement around the Pop-Up Experience Contest has been building in our social media channels for weeks. In addition to the contest winner announcement, Periscope users can tune in as Krispy Kreme CEO, Tony Thompson, tosses out the first pitch of the 7 p.m. Winston-Salem Dash vs. Potomac Nationals game. The broadcast will conclude with an exciting rendition of the National Anthem that fans of all ages are sure to enjoy.
