Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles is proud to partner with its second celebrity chef, Chef Josiah Citrin and his Dave’s Doghouse concept. Citrin’s commitment of making high-quality food more accessible continues with the opening of Dave’s Doghouse, a fast-casual hot dog stand located at the new DraftKings Fantasy Sports Bar & Grill inside Staples Center. As partner and chef, Citrin elevates the classic hot dog by using the best all-beef hot dogs and specially prepared dough for the signature buttered and grilled buns.
The concept was founded by his cousin, David Cheren, who along with Citrin, set out to “make America’s favorite foods better,” with superior ingredients and culinary techniques. Cheren was inspired by fellow Bostonian and hotelier Howard Johnson who created his hot dogs by making buns in a loaf and using a special machine to slice them so there was no crust on the sides. “We wanted to create a hot dog that reminded people of their childhood something that they would enjoy at a neighbor’s backyard barbeque, but a better-quality version of that,” Citrin says. “My motto ‘In Pursuit of Excellence’ carries over to this concept with our take on the traditional hot dog.”
The menu at Staples Center features four hot dogs, the signature Dave’s Dog with sweet relish, onions, and old-fashioned yellow mustard; Mac N’ Cheese dog with three-cheese mac, bacon bits, onions, and old-fashioned yellow mustard; California Dog with Citrin’s signature all-beef chili, onions, and old-fashioned yellow mustard; and the Cowboy Dog with old-fashioned baked beans, onions, and yellow mustard.
The concession stand refresh and upgrade project is officially under way, which includes new designs, new menu items, integrating a brand new POS System with partners at NCR and their tablet technology. Additionally there will be a new Anheuser-Busch Cooler concept in the old “Art of the Game” space on the main concourse, it is a walk in cooler style space where fans can grab and go quickly with their favorite Anheuser-Busch beer that will be located at the Figueroa Entrance of the arena (southeast corner) and will be designed by Gensler.
