Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a fast-casual, “better burger” chain, is opening its first location in the state of New York on November 16. The entrepreneur spearheading the company’s first New York location is Mooyah franchisee Anthony Grippo. The restaurant will open in Briarcliff Manor at 1882 Pleasantville Road in the Chilmark Shopping Center.

“This area really has nothing like a Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes as the brand offers Guests the ability to customize any order just the way they want it,” Grippo says. “We are already seeing incredible excitement in the area and it is my hope that Mooyah becomes a go-to restaurant for the towns of Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, and the surrounding communities.”

Prior to becoming a Mooyah franchisee, Grippo worked for 17 years in the financial services industry, including time at JPMorgan, Lehman Brothers, and Citigroup. He now plans to put his experience in finance, accounting, operations, strategic planning, and business management into his restaurant in Briarcliff Manor.

“I know Mooyah will be a great success here because the product is exceptional, and the options offer something for everyone,” Grippo says. “I have tried everything on the menu, and I can say without question that Mooyah’s burgers, fries, and shakes taste the best compared to any other better burger restaurant out there.”

While Briarcliff Manor will be the first location in the state of New York, Grippo, and the Mooyah team are confident the brand’s recent success in New Jersey will carry across state lines and set the brand up to become a huge success in the Empire State. Grippo is also building a second Mooyah restaurant in Larchmont, New York, scheduled to open in early 2016 at 1943 Palmer Avenue.

“The Northeast is already falling in love with Mooyah,” says Michael Mabry, chief operating officer of Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes. “We currently have six locations in the region, including New Jersey and Connecticut. We’re quickly building upon that presence and know that Briarcliff Manor is a perfect spot for us to continue our East Coast growth.”

At Mooyah, Guests have the advantage of choosing from a variety of bun options, such as baked in-house artisan white or multigrain wheat buns and handcrafted lettuce buns to accompany a never-frozen, 100 percent American beef patty, all-natural Jennie-O turkey patty, or mouthwatering black bean veggie patty. Each gourmet burger can be customized with five cheese options, Applewood-smoked bacon, and sliced avocado, along with nine free veggie toppings and 11 free sauces.

Mooyah French fries come together in a six-step process that takes a total of 24 hours to completely prepare. A delightful combination of constant attention and a little magic help transform Idaho potatoes into perfect, crisp-on-the-outside and fluffy-on-the-inside fries. Guests also have the choice of savory sweet potato fries. Never one to forget dessert, Mooyah offers real ice cream shakes, allowing guests to choose from 10 flavors ranging from vanilla to Hershey’s chocolate to Reese’s to strawberry banana and more.

In 2015, Mooyah is on pace to open 30 new locations and reach the milestone of 100 locations before the close of the year. The booming better burger brand is set to enter several new states in 2015. In addition to New York, the brand is making its debut in Indiana, Massachusetts, and Florida this year. Additionally, the brand will increase its established presence in states including California, Texas, Illinois, Louisiana, and New Jersey. The brand continues to spread the unique Mooyah experience beyond domestic borders, with its first restaurant in Qatar set to open this year, marking the seventh country Mooyah has entered outside the U.S.
